We are sad to announce the passing of Brian Arthur Hulce on July 14, 2023. His life was taken too soon by his own hand.

Brian was born on August 4, 1977, to Robert A Hulce and Ila Ann Sheppard Hulce in Provo, Utah and was raised in Springville Utah. He graduated from Springville High School in 1995, where he excelled in woodworking and built many pieces of beautiful wood furniture.

He met the love of his life, Jill, when he was only 15 years old.  They were married on November 14, 1996,and have spent 30 years together. Their first home was in Spanish Fork, Utah where they lived for several years. They moved to their home in Mapleton, Utah where they raised their three sons, Andrew, CJ and Jackson.

Brian first started working in the bakery at Ream’s in Springville and worked his way up to the manager of the western wear by the time he was 18. Brian had a great passion for retail and sales.  Anyone who knew him (and some that didn’t) found that he was great at selling you something you really didn’t need. His huge personality was a true gift.

Brian worked for Ream’s until 2016 and held the positions of district manager and buyer for their western wear locations.  During his time with Ream’s, he had the privilege to design several styles of western boots with well-known boot makers. His knowledge of boots and the western industry was exceptional and was well known throughout the country.

As of 2017 he began to work for Smith & Edwards as the general manager in West Jordan and the boot buyer for the company.  He loved all of his co-workers at Smith & Edwards like family and especially the friendships he formed with his customers.

Brian enjoyed being outdoors, whether in the mountains, on a lake, tending to his garden, taking care of the yard or spending time on the golf course. He enjoyed his time playing coed softball and many years of bowling in leagues with family and friends.

Brian is survived by his wife Jill, their sons Andrew of Payson, Utah, Christopher (Raegan) of Payson, Utah and Jackson of Mapleton, Utah. His brother Brent Hulce and sister Beckie (Eric) Webb of Nephi, Utah. Brian is also survived by Jill’s family. Her parents Eldon and Sharon Best of Mapleton, Utah, and sisters Lori (Gary) Kelsey of Mapleton, Utah, Lisa Best of Hilversum, Netherlands and Becky (Justin) Evans of West Wendover, Nevada. Brian also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends that were all family.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ila Ann Hulce, grandparents Harry and Joyce Hulce and Rex and Sylvia Sheppard and a niece Sabrina Rasmussen.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville.  Funeral services will be held Friday, July 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mapleton 23rd Ward building at 1050 North 300 West in Mapleton with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to services.  Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
