Brian Douglas Martin
August 22, 1952 – January 26, 2025
Brian Douglas Martin, known to all as "Doug," passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, at the age of 72 after a courageous 7½-year battle with cancer. Doug was born to Jack Warren Martin and Glenna Ruby Martin on August 22, 1952, in Denver City, Texas. He spent most of his life in Lubbock and graduated from Lubbock High School. He also lived in Grapevine and Oklahoma City. Throughout his journey, he was known for his sharp mind, quick wit, and generous heart.
Doug's love for tinkering with all things mechanical led him to be the proud owner of his own appliance repair business, where he earned a great reputation for his skill and integrity, and he was always quick to lend a hand to friends or strangers. Doug had a passion for classic cars, aviation, and billiards. He enjoyed being part of a billiards league and competing in tournaments, and he cherished the friendships he found in that community. Doug loved spending time with his family, campfires, good music, good tequila, pretty ladies, and making people laugh.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Glenna Martin, and his beloved son, Jesse Kyle Martin. He is survived by his aunts, Margie Rhodes, Meredith Janutolo, and Jo Allen; his brothers, Warren Martin and Travis Martin; his children, Teresa Holmes, Lori Martin, Drew Walker, and Lindsay Martin; his grandchildren, Jaelyn Diaz, Elizabeth Jesuitas, Parker Holmes, Zane Walker, Reagan Walker, Allie Walker, Everly Walker, and Autumn Walker; and his great-grandchild, Rio Jesuitas. Doug also leaves behind his best friend, Hannah, who was a constant source of companionship, love, and support.
Doug will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held at a later time.
