Brian J. McGinley, 64, went to rest with our Lord on May 3, 2025, surrounded by his wife, children and family.
Brian was born on August 13, 1960, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Thomas McGinley and Charlene (Pleak) McGinley. Growing up, Brian loved playing sports at Christian Park. As a devout Catholic, Brian attended and graduated from St. Bernadette Parish in Indianapolis, IN. Brian then attended Cathedral High School ('78), where he was a successful wrestler. After high school graduation, Brian attended Franklin College and then went on to be a bartender at the Golden Ace Inn. Once his family started to grow, he started an electrician apprenticeship with IBEW Local 481, where he worked for the next 40+ years. He was very proud of his profession.
Brian married the love of his life, Pam (Walters) McGinley, on December 10th, 1982. Together the couple had five children that they lovingly raised. Brian’s greatest joy was his family. He was so proud of his children and their accomplishments. While his children were younger, he was a beloved wrestling coach for so many. Brian went on to help create the Fighting Irish Wrestling Squad. He also coached Little League Baseball and Softball.
Irish heritage was extremely important to Brian. His Irish roots were embedded into the fabric of his being. He was also a longtime member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
When he wasn’t at work or coaching, Brian was an avid golfer who found peace out on the links. Brian was also quite the card shark and loved to play euchre. Brian was a charismatic public speaker who had a gift of inspiring others with his words. Silver Strike Bowling was a favorite too.
His loving presence will be greatly missed by so many. Brian loved us all so very deeply and with such force.
Rest easy, Mac Daddy.
Brian is survived by his wife, Pamela, children Thomas (Danielle), Colleen Borgert (Mark), Timothy (Angela), Gavin, Charles, grandchildren Emma, Teagan, Maeve, Jackson, Johnathan, Thomas, Diana, Rosalie, and Charles Jr., parents Thomas and Charlene McGinley, siblings Theresa, James, Maureen, Michael, and Sean.
