Brian Nichols, 68, of Eldora, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023 at Bethany Life in Story City. Arrangements are pending with the Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Iowa Falls.
Brian Nelson Nichols was born on May 16, 1955 to Nelson and Mary (Sunderlin) Nichols in Waverly, Iowa. He graduated from Eldora High School class of 1973.
Brian worked in the seed corn industry most of his adult life. He started right out of high school and worked for Northrup King Seed for twenty years then for MD Meyers seed corn, Remington Ottlie seed and then NRP seed until he retired.
On July 30, 1977 Brian was united in marriage to Brenda Kay Harris at the Methodist church in Eldora, Iowa. Together they raised three children: Brian "Eric", Britt and Brant. When the kids were young, he always attended all of their school events.
Brian loved the outdoors, hiking around Pine Lake, walking the dogs, taking long bike rides and even participated in RAGBRAI. He also enjoyed working on cars, bicycles, engines and electronics in his spare time.
Brian loved his family more than anything, and he spent a lot of time caring for his grandchildren.
Brian Nichols is survived by his wife, Brenda Nichols of Eldora, Iowa; children, Eric (Melladee) Nichols of Eldora, Iowa, Britt Nichols of Marshalltown, Iowa, Brant (Jade) Nichols of Ackley, Iowa; grandchildren: Aaron Nichols, Alissa Nichols, Elijah Nichols, Jordyn Nichols, Chloe Stilwell, Bailey Stilwell, and great grandson Xavier Maier. He is also survived by sisters, Nancy (Brad) Stewart of Eldora, Iowa and Beth (Steve) Folkerts of Steamboat Rock. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lois Nichols; father, Nelson Nichols; sister, Carol Carlisle.
