Born on October 2, 1941 to Earl and Neva Cockerham, Dixie grew up in Iowa and graduated from Ackley High School. She lived a life full of dedication and resilience, holding a variety of jobs throughout her lifetime. In 2020, she made Iowa Falls her home and became a cherished member of the Iowa Falls Evangelical Free Church.
During her many years of work, she was known for her dedication and warm spirit. Her many jobs over the years reflected her strong work ethic and adventurous spirit. She worked as a waitress, beautician, airport security officer, real estate agent, school lunch lady, home health aide and even a Winnebago delivery driver. She also spent time working on the farm, raising golden retrievers and serving as a beloved Delta Zeta sorority house mom at ISU. In every role, Dixie brought warmth, dedication and a can-do attitude that left a lasting impression on those around her.
Above all, Dixie was a loving wife and mother, proud grandmother, great-grandmother, and a loyal friend to many.
She is survived by her sister, Cathy Meyer; her children, Pat (Gary) Knipfel, Bob (Curt) Rameyer and Mary Rameyer; her grandchildren, Kendall (Mandy) Meyer, Kaci (Wes) Elkin, Titus (Ruth) Johnson, Trenton (Briauna) Johnson, Trevor Johnson and Tanner (Zoe) Johnson and her great-grandchildren: Kaylee and Karter Elkin, Kennedy and Kyler Meyer. She is also survived by her stepson, Michael (Linda) Stone; stepson-in-law, Tim Wantland; her second husband, Harris Janssen; as well as a nephew, nieces, cousins, step-grandchildren and many dear friends.
Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Don Stone; her parents, Earl "Spike" and Neva Cockerham; her brother, James Cockerham; her first husband, Meinard Rameyer; and her stepdaughter, Melinda Stone Wantland.
Dixie enjoyed walks in Foster Park; visiting family and friends; studying the Bible; doing word search puzzles; and visiting Hawaii. She also loved every dog she ever met. She will be remembered for her kindness, faith, and the love she shared with everyone around her.
