Brian was born on August 17, 1953 at Lamar, Colorado to Charles P. and Shirlene (Turner) Nunnery and passed away on July 7, 2025 at his home in Lamar with his family by his side at the age of 71.
Brian lived life with grit, purpose, and an unwavering devotion to the people he loved. He was a man who gave everything he had to the ones who mattered most.
Throughout our childhood, every spare minute of his time, when he wasn’t working long, hard hours—was devoted to us, his boys. Whether we were hunting, fishing, wrestling, going to gun shows, or diving into one of the countless hobbies we shared, Dad was always there. He was our teacher, our motivator, our biggest fan, and sometimes just the steady hand on our shoulder when we needed it most. It is difficult to come up with any childhood memory where he was not present.
But Dad's devotion didn’t end with family. Many of you here today know that firsthand. His loyalty, his readiness to lend a hand, and presence extended far beyond the walls of our home. Whether it was giving someone a ride, showing up when things got tough, or bailing you out of jail, you could always count on Brian. He didn’t need recognition; helping others was just part of who he was.
In the later years of his life, Dad had the joy of becoming a grandfather to three beautiful grandchildren, and they quickly became the light of his life. He absolutely lit up around them. Their laughter brought him joy, their achievements filled him with pride. Watching him with them, you could see the same deep, unconditional love that he gave to his own children. At the same time, those grandchildren grew close to a Grandfather who it was so obvious loved them so much. They are fortunate to have been blessed with the time that they had with him.
We would love to get into the full life story of Dad, but there is just too much to list. As we are sure you could tell from the slideshow, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Growing up, he had also spent time as a rafting guide on the Colorado River. Other times he was a roughneck, though he would have to quit every year in order to ensure he made his annual elk hunt. At some point, he determined that maybe working for someone else wasn’t gonna work out and decided that it was time to go into business for himself. Eventually settling on the satellite business, which then led to the furniture business. These businesses helped to provide the flexibility to become the devoted family man that we came to know.
Outside of those businesses, he was drawn to the mountains and spent countless days on properties in Clear Creek County or fishing at his mountain home on 11 Mile Reservoir. But like with everything else, this time was also spent with family who he would take on those trips to the mountain.
Brian was many things—a provider, an adventurer, a man of grit and humor—but above all, he was present. Fully, wholeheartedly present in the lives of those he loved. Whether you knew him as Dad, Grandpa, husband, brother, or friend, you knew that once he was in your corner, he never left.
We’ll carry his lessons with us in the way we raise our kids, the way we treat our friends, the way we meet life’s challenges head-on. His legacy isn’t just in the stories we tell, but in the people we are because of him
Rest easy Dad, we can take it from here and will see you again.
