Brian John Smith slipped into the arms of our Heavenly Father on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, at his home in Thompson Valley, rural Arcadia.

He was born on April 15, 1967, to Claraton and Janet (Matchey) Smith at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Arcadia.  Brian attended Arcadia Catholic School and graduated from Arcadia High School with the class of 1985.  He then took a short course at Western Technical College in La Crosse.  Brian worked at A-G Cooperative and then for Reglin and Hesch driving truck and for Hesch Excavating operating heavy equipment.  In his spare time, Brian enjoyed playing golf, gardening, canning, and as a member of Deer Camp, enjoyed processing and smoking meats of which was a fun project for all the Deer Camp guys.  He also enjoyed raising laying hens in his little red hen house. 

Brian is survived by his mother: Janet; sister: Barbara (Jim) Garofalo and their sons Anthony and Joe of Arcadia; brothers: William of Arcadia and Ben of Wauwatosa; nieces: Ashley (Jake) Lund and their son Miles, and Allison (Wallace) Linsmeyer and their sons: Reece and Wren Ro; and many relatives, coworkers and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father: C.J. Smith; brother: Bob; sister-in-law: Kristen Smith; and grandparents. 

Friends and relatives are invited to a celebration of Brian’s life at the Arcadia Country Club beginning at 10 a.m. on November 17, 2023. A public prayer service with Father Brandon Guenther officiating will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by reception.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the American Diabetes Research Foundation in Brian’s name.
