Brian Swann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McInerney Central Chapel on Mar. 7, 2026.
Brian Swann, a lifelong member of the Canaryville community, passed away on March 5, 2026. A true neighborhood fixture, Brian was known as much for his steady presence as he was for his generous spirit. He was always ready to offer a helping hand to a neighbor in need.

Above all else, Brian's world centered on his family. He was the devoted husband of Tina (nee Sullivan), and their partnership was the foundation of his life. As a father, he was the heart of his home, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering love for his children, Brian Swann, Jr., and Alexis Swann.

In addition to his wife and children, Brian is survived by his loving parents, Dennis and Rita (nee Peterson) Swann. He was a devoted brother to Dina Swann (John Helms), Jennifer Swann (Bill O'Gara), and Lori Swann, and a cherished son-in-law to Barbara and Daniel Sullivan. To Brett, Josh, Zack, Dominick, Thomas, and Giovanni, Brian was more than an uncle; he was a mentor and a father figure who could always be counted on. He leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A car enthusiast, Brian was happiest when he had his hands under a hood. Whether it was his own vehicle, his parents', a nephew's, or making sure his wife's and children's cars were always running right, there was always a project in the works and a problem he was helping to fix. That kindness extended to all living things, especially his beloved dogs, Akora and Rose, who were his constant companions.

Brian's incredible work ethic and deep devotion to his family and neighbors were the hallmarks of his life. While his helping hand was always available, his sharp sarcasm and trademark stubbornness were just as ever-present. These were the qualities that made him the man his family and friends respected so deeply. Brian will be profoundly missed by all those he loved, and all those who loved him.

The family will receive friends at McInerney Central Chapel, 4635 S. Wallace, Chicago, IL 60609 on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 3-8pm. Funeral Service at 7 p.m. Cremation following in accordance with Brian's wishes.
