Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nichols Funeral Home - Wilmington on Nov. 30, 2025.
Brian J. Tighe, age 65, of North Chelmsford, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025, at Tufts Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on January 26, 1960, in Winchester, MA, Brian was the beloved son of the late James "Jay" Tighe and Janet (Backman) Waugh. He grew up in Wilmington alongside his three brothers, where he developed a lifelong love of sports, especially hockey and golf. Brian remained passionate about his sports throughout his life and was a proud graduate of Wilmington High School, Class of 1978.
Brian was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He spent many years as a heavy equipment operator for John Farmer Trucking in Billerica before joining Tommy Todd Company and Union Local #4. Over the years, he formed lasting bonds with his employers and colleagues, whom he considered mentors and dear friends.
For more than three decades, Brian could be found at the Center Café in Billerica visiting with fellow construction workers. This close-knit group became a second family to him, and the friendships he built there meant the world to him.
Outside of work, Brian enjoyed life fully, from exploring great restaurants and golfing with his buddies, to going on fantastic adventures with those he loved. His legendary generosity, warm spirit, and ability to make everyone feel welcome made him truly 'one of a kind' and a solid guy to the core. He loved telling a good story and enjoyed his "Tremendous laughs!" He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Brian was the beloved husband of Beverly J. Champagne (MacDonald); devoted son of Janet (Backman) Waugh and son of the late James "Jay" Tighe and his wife Jeanette of Wilmington. He was the cherished "Dad" of Chase Champagne and her husband Matt Wuthrich of Colorado, formerly of Georgia, and Devin Champagne and his wife Jessica of Georgia; and the loving "Grampy" of his adored granddaughter, Winter Wuthrich.
He was the dear brother of Dana Tighe and his companion Diane Reposa of Cambridge, Peter Tighe and his wife Paula of Austin, TX, Todd Davidson of Wilmington, Anna Davidson of Tewksbury, the late Kevin "Jake" Tighe and the late Greg Davidson. Brian is also survived by his nieces and their families, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 6th, at 11:30 a.m. in Wildwood Cemetery, 233 Middlesex Ave.,
Wilmington, MA.
