Brian D. Volkert, 64, of Peoria, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, after a courageous battle over many years with Parkinson's Disease.

Brian was born on September 11, 1961, in Peoria to Adolph and Colletta Landuyt Volkert.

They preceded him in death, along with his brother Gregory.

He is survived by two brothers, Dominic (Pat) Volkert of Iowa City, and Eric Volkert of Peoria; two sisters, Francesca (Dave) Cunningham of Grinnell, Iowa, and Helene Volkert of Iowa City; sister-in-law, Lora Volkert of Edwards, Ill.; eight nieces and nephews, Ryan, Nick, Ben, Andy, Anna, Emma, Matthew, and Sara.

Brian worked at OSF St. Francis Medical Center for many years transporting patients.

He was an avid reader, biker, Minnesota Twins fan, and loved to read about Southern Illinois history.

A Funeral Mass will be at 11 A.M. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Resurrection Mausoleum Chapel, with Fr. Gregory Jozefiak officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at the mausoleum chapel.

Entombment will follow in the mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to The Parkinson's Foundation or OSF Healthcare Foundation.
