Bridget Mason Henderson, 73, of Jonesville, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the SECU Hospice Care Center in Yadkinville. Born in Surry County on July 16, 1952, she was the daughter of Creston Monroe Mason and Grace Mae Whitley Mason.
Bridget was a graduate of George Washington High School, class of 1970, and Averette College, class of 1974. She began her professional journey in journalism with the Elkin Tribune and later continued at the Mt. Airy News. Bridget enjoyed spending time at the beach, reading, and caring for her pets.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Bridget is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 51 years, David Henderson; daughter Courtney Michelle Henderson of Jonesville; brother Creston “Chip” Monroe Mason Jr. of Jonesville; sister-in-law Debbie Henderson Gore of Smith Hill, VA; as well as cherished nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Bridget’s life will take place on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Elkin Funeral Service Chapel. Friends and family are invited to gather and offer their condolences following the service.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at the SECU Hospice Care Center for their exceptional care and kindness during Bridget’s final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
