Mr. Brooks Jeffrey Boan, age 64, entered into rest on Friday, May 19, 2023. A Celebration of Life service will be 5:00 PM Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Reverend Jamie Gulledge and Hank Griffin. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. A private committal service will be held at a later date in the Old Brock’s Mill Cemetery.
Mr. Boan was born February 2, 1959 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late Jessie Lloyd and Bernice Louise Thomas Boan. He was a graduate of Chesterfield High School and Chesterfield – Marlboro Technical College. Brooks was a retired employee of the Chesterfield School District and a former employee of Cooper Tools / Weller Industries with over 20 years of service. Mr. Boan was a member of Westfield Creek Baptist Church. An avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast, Brooks enjoyed sitting on the porch, grilling, gardening, listening to classic rock, and watching NASCAR. A man with a diligent work ethic, he never missed a day of work and was always a friend to all his coworkers. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, and the ability make others laugh.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Boan was also preceded in death by his brother, David Lloyd Boan; sister, Linda Boan; sister-in-law, Kathy Rivers Gainey; and brother-in-law, Bryan Gainey.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 43 years, Bonnie Rivers Boan of the home; daughter, Anna Boan (Trey Dordal) of Cheraw, SC; brother, Eddie Boan of Bennettsville, SC; sisters, Patricia (W.T.) Harp, Wendy Polson, Sue (Willard) Quick all of Bennettsville, SC, Vickie Smith of Cheraw, SC, Debbie Gulledge of Dillon, SC, Joyce Dixon of Cheraw, SC, Marie (Billy) Cheek of Bennettsville, SC; Mother-in-Law, Opal Marscelle Rivers, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of the McLeod Hospice House and Gentiva Hospice of Chesterfield for the exceptional love and care that was provided to Mr. Boan and his family.
