Bruce Maynard Alcott

Bruce Alcott, age 95 of Howell, MI passed away Monday May 15, 2023. Born on March 12, 1928 in East Rutherford, New Jersey he was the son of the late Kenneth and Jeanette Alcott.
Loving father of Judith, Lorraine and Douglas Alcott. Proud grandfather of four grandchildren, Glen and Neil Reinecke and Ashley Rupert and Melissa Alcott, and great-grandchildren Charlotte and Levi Rupert.
He received his bachelor degree in business from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He enlisted in the National Guard and then served in the US Navy aboard the USS Antietam during the Korean War; He received an honorable discharge. On July 30, 1955, he married Elizabeth Wylde, and in 1956 they moved to Michigan where they raised their three children, Judith, Lorraine and Douglas, Judith Ora passed at the age of one.
Bruce had a passion for wholesale manufacturing, diamond wheels and tool sales. He was active as an Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Dearborn. He loved to socialize and enjoyed golfing, sailing, model building, RC planes and rockets, and attending events with social clubs. He loved the ocean at the Jersey and Cape Cod shore lines. After Bruce retired, he and Betty spent a wonderful 10 years in Florida before returning to Michigan again.
He was a very strong and driven man who woke up every day with a purpose and a spirit for life. He provided a fun living environment for his family and he loved driving his family all over the country for our annual family vacations to destinations all throughout North America, and always checking his instant MPG.
A couple nice memories, my sister and I were sailing in Cape Cod Bay with our father on a small Sunfish and we found our way into the water many times. When we got home in our very wet clothes our mother was not very pleased with us, but Dad was happy we had a fun time. My Father and I were shooting our Estes rockets in Hines Park and a police offer walked up to us and asked if this was legal, we both stated yes and he stated ok and left.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Judith and his sister Eunice Alcott.
He is survived by his children Lorraine (husband Kurt, children Glen and Neil Reinecke) of Lakewood Colorado; Douglas (wife Beverly, children Ashley Rupert and Melissa Alcott) of Howell and Fowlerville Michigan and great grandchildren Charlotte and Levi Rupert.
He will be laid to rest in Lake View Cemetery, Howell MI.
