Bruce Ball Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McWilliams Funeral Home - Alpena on Feb. 13, 2026.
Bruce Allan Ball, a loving father, proud grandfather, and devoted brother and friend, passed away peacefully, at home surrounded by his family, on February 11, 2026, in Alpena, at the age of 73. Born September 28, 1952, in Crawfordsville, Indiana, to the late Henry and Donna "Joanie" Ball. Bruce will be remembered for his selfless character and love for his family, friends, animals, and nature.

Bruce was a man of many interests and few words who found true joy in life's simple pleasures. Whether spending time outdoors with his loyal friend Chewy or simply laughing with those he loved, he appreciated the quiet moments that made life meaningful.

He dedicated over 30 years to his career in the oil and gas field, specializing in safety and maintenance. His vast knowledge, leadership, and strong work ethic was widely respected by his colleagues and peers.

Bruce was a truly selfless man, always ready to lend a helping hand without expecting anything in return. His kindness was quiet but constant, and his actions consistently spoke louder than words. He had a special love for animals - dogs, cats, and horses alike - and felt most at peace in their presence. To his grandson, he was a modern day cowboy, a title that reflected his strength, steady spirit, and love for the simple, honest way of life he cherished.

Bruce's memory will live on through his daughters, Jenifer (Jason) Foust and Lisa (Steve) Groh; his beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth Wangelin, Lucas (Madison) Wangelin, Katie (Jon) Wieczorkowski, Jacob Foust, Julia Wangelin, Bradley Groh, Matthew Groh, and Adalyn Groh; his brother Tim Ball; his sisters, Merrianne Robinson, Vicki Simpkins, Robin Ball, and Donna McClintock (Pat Shelson); as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Ball; his brothers-in-law, Dave Robinson and Brian McClintock; and his sister-in-law, Mary Ball.

Bruce will be remembered for his quiet presence, his steady strength, and the way he showed his love through his actions. Though he will be deeply missed, the lessons he taught, the stories he shared, and the laughter he gave will remain with his family. Always.

Cremation arrangements were in the care of McWilliams Funeral Home. A celebration of Bruce's life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to The Huron Humane Society.
