Bruce Shimer Berkey, 93, of State College, died peacefully Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Celebration Villa of State College.
Born November 16, 1931, in Lincoln Twp. Bedford County, he was the son of the late Harry and Trella Carrel Berkey. On January 26, 1952 he married Shirley McCombie, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Karen Sue Metzger and her husband Leroy of Pennsylvania Furnace and Arlene Gail Stahlman of Bellefonte; a sister, Hattie Berkey of Johnstown; a brother, Chester Berkey and his wife Barb of Fishertown; Daughters-In-Law, Sandra Berkey and Ruth Berkey; eight grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Eugene Blair Berkey and Bruce Lyle Berkey; son-in-law, Brian Stahlman; eight brothers; three sisters, and one great-grandchild.
Bruce served in the United State Army during the Korean War. He worked as a Dairy Farmer and enjoyed spending his free time fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Ferguson Township Lions Club and VFW Post 5825, and began a legacy serving as the Show Chairman for the Nittany Antique Machinery Association, a title his son and grandson earned in following him.
A visitation will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College, PA.
A funeral will be held Friday, October 10, 2025 at 11:00 am at Koch Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Hersch and Roger Young officiating.
