Bruce L Heinz, 68, of Rexburg, died July 13, 2024, from accidental circumstances. He was born October 5, 1955, in Rexburg, Idaho to Lyle S and Helen Louise Hawkes Heinz.
Bruce graduated from San Juan High School in Blanding, Utah in 1974.
He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the San Diego Mission. He enjoyed his service and the friends he made as a missionary.
After returning from his mission he married Beth Petersen on June 9, 1977, in the Manti Utah Temple. They lived in many places as they worked and raised their family together.
Bruce worked as an executive for the Golden Corral corporation for over 44 years. He was very successful in setting up and running new franchises. He and Beth continue to own two restaurants.
He enjoyed spending time with his family doing everything from shooting firearms to riding his Razr in the mountains and at the sand dunes. He loved music and was an avid Denver Broncos fan. His favorite thing to do was sit on the porch and enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature.
He is survived by his wife Beth Heinz; children, Heather (Jeffrey) Neese, Candace (Jesus) Quintanilla, Jacob Heinz; Crystal (Joseph) Beckham, Eric (Portia) Heinz; his stepmother Nelene Heinz, siblings, Cathy (Dan) Hanna, Sherry (Robert) Bulloch, Michelle (Deb) Heinz, Pam (Jim) Russell, Lisa (Jae) Potter, LaNell Dennison, Holly (Mike) Schmuin, Heidi (Justin) Frandsen, De (Barb) Jones; 21 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle S Heinz and Helen Louise Hawkes Heinz.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, at the Rexburg 15th Ward Chapel with Bishop Morris Christensen officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Saturday from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. I spent a couple of summers living with Bruce and his family in Blanding after they moved away from Richfield. As a young man he was my best friend. I have many fond memories of Bruce and times we spent together. I milked a cow by hand twice a day both summers I lived with them. I milked one cow and he milked the other. It was a great experience for me. It was part of his family responsibilities to get the milking done. We went on many 25 mile bike rides. We would ride from Blanding to Bluff which dropped 2000 feet over the course of the ride. His mom would pick us up in Bluff and bring us back home. At least once some of his cousins were visiting and made the ride with us. I remember going to a movie (matinee) with him in Richfield one day--we were probably 12. He met Christine Edwards on the way and sat by her (and me) for the movie. He was always fun and much better with the young ladies than I was. We did a 20 mile hike over a mountainous area north of Blanding with a scout group. It was a pretty grueling hike for our age, but a blast. We found a newly born fawn enroute. We were careful not to touch it so as to not prevent it from reconnecting with its mother. I have many very fond memories of times spent with him and his family. I currently live in Idaho Falls.
