Bruce Sherman Hill Sr., born on August 16, 1954, in Richmond, Virginia, passed away on August 19, 2025. He was a remarkable individual who dedicated much of his life to serving the community as the Supervisor of Public Works and restoration projects for the City of Richmond. Bruce's commitment to his work reflected his deep love for his hometown and its residents.
Bruce attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, where he began to shape the values and qualities that would define him throughout his life: kindness, courage, and a beautiful spirit. He was a family man at heart, cherishing moments spent with family gatherings that brought joy and togetherness.
In his leisure time, Bruce found solace in watching westerns, working on cars, fishing, and fixing things. His hands were always busy, reflective of his quiet strength and capability. Above all, Bruce held a profound love for his grandchildren—Brycen, Brennan, Kyle, Peyton, and Lennox—creating lasting memories that will be treasured by them forever.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Cleo Hill, his daughter Sharmaine Hill, and his son Bruce Hill Jr. Bruce also leaves behind his brother Anthony (Peaches), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends, including Penny Stage, who will remember him fondly.
Bruce is preceded in death by his brothers Fred, Jerry, Claude, and Gregory, who now welcome him with open arms. His legacy of love, dedication, and adventure will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Services will be held on August 26, 2025, at Joseph Jenkins Jr Funeral Home in Richmond, Virginia, beginning at 10:30 AM.. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Bruce are invited to celebrate his life and honor his memory.
