Bruce Hoffman Jr., 98, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Doey's House.
Born Thursday, October 6, 1927, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Bruce N. Hoffman Sr. and the late Clara Elva (Sprecher) Hoffman.
Bruce graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1945 and went on to earn his degree from George Washington University in 1949. He began his career in the banking industry, working for his uncle, Jacob A. Hoffman, where he spent 17 years. He later worked for B.N. Hoffman Sons Excavation Co. for 14 years. Bruce then joined Martins Elevator, where he dedicated 28 years of service before retiring in 2010. In addition to his professional life, Bruce volunteered for several years at Broadfording Christian Academy. He was a faithful member of Grace Brethren Church for 30 years and, beginning in 2010, attended Paramount Baptist Church.
He is survived by his sister-in-laws, Marian Hoffman of Hagerstown and Carolyn Shockey of PA; brother-in-law, Perry Hendershot of Clear Spring; nephews, Mark (Judy) Hoffman of Clear Spring and Gregory L. Hoffman of Berkeley Springs, WV, and several other nieces and nephews; great-nephews, Josh (Rachel) Hoffman, and Tyler (McHaley) Hoffman.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jane Hoffman; brother, David S. Hoffman; and nephew Todd A. Hoffman.
Services will be held Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 11:00 am, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North Hagerstown, MD, with the Pastor Frank H. Duncan officiating.
Interment will be at the Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 1710 Underpass Way, Suite 300, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
