Bruce Edward Huffman, age 89, had his homegoing to be with Jesus in the early morning hours on Saturday, October 12, 2024. He died peacefully at home with his family after his final battle with cancer.
Bruce felt God had blessed him to live a long and full life. He was born on September 17, 1935, to James R. and Tom E. May Huffman in
Pikeville, Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife, Vada Biliter Huffman and his son Hadley Bruce Huffman. His brother, Thomas Webb (Debbie) Huffman, his sisters, Sarah Cook and Ardith Davis, and his nephew Richard Burton Huffman, several other nephews, nieces, his sisters-in law Lenore Biliter and Donna Biliter and his brother-in-law Honsel Biliter (Phyllis) and many cousins and good friends.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, James R. and Tom E. May Huffman; two brothers, James Richard Huffman, Robert Dana Huffman and one sister Dorthea Runyon (Eagle) Doty.
Bruce was a long-standing member of the Pikeville United Methodist Church where he was christened as an infant and attended Sunday School and church with his parents. He made his personal profession of faith on July 29, 1984, and was baptized by Reverend James C. Stratton. He was an active member and served on the administrative board in several positions, was President of Promise Keepers, taught Sunday School and a home bible study. Bruce loved his Heavenly Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit and strived to the best of his ability to follow and keep their commandments.
Bruce attended Pikeville City School and graduated in May of 1953. He attended Pikeville College for two years. Then he served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1959 stationed in France. He held rank Spec. 4 (Tec) as Quarter Master. When he returned home in the winter of 1960, he went to work for Stuart Adams, owner of Adams Construction. He worked there for 12 years. He was sent to Ardmore, Oklahoma to the American Flyer Training School where he completed his training and obtained his Pilot's license. He was employed by Transcontinental Oil Corporation from Shreveport Louisiana to manage Diamond Coal Company for 3 years. He then set out on his own, starting Hadley, Inc. He was involved in coal mining and various types of construction.
In 2000 he moved to Palm Harbor, Florida and purchased an Oil Change Business.
His favorite experience was working as an Insurance Adjuster for Doug and Felicia Branham, owners of Colonial Claims. He always expressed an enjoyment working with the insurance claims, meeting and helping hundreds of people whose homes and businesses had been damaged or destroyed by hurricanes.

The visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Wednesday October 16, 2024 at J. W. Call and Son Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home with Chuck Campbell and Bill Staggs officiating.
Burial will follow at Annie E. Young Cemetery.
