Bruce Wayne Mayfield Sr.

Bruce Wayne Mayfield Sr., age 80, of Locust Grove, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Piedmont Henry Hospital. He was born on January 30, 1946, in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of the late Ralph P Mayfield and Hattie Mae Babcock Mayfield. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Bruce Wayne Mayfield, Jr.

Bruce was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He proudly dedicated 30 years of service to Delta Air Lines, a career he spoke of often and held close to his heart, grateful for the opportunities it provided and the people he served alongside.

In 1971, Bruce also successfully started and began operating Mayfield Fence, building a small business through hard work and determination. His legacy lives on through his son Mark, who continues operating Mayfield Fence in South Carolina today.

He was an active member of Hampton First Baptist Church. Bruce also cherished the fellowship of his Monday morning men's breakfast group, known to their wives as "The Romeo Club". Above all else, Bruce was a family man. He was immensely proud of his sons and deeply devoted to his grandchildren, finding his greatest joy in time spent with those he loved most.

He leaves behind his wife, Cassandra Joy Harris Mayfield, with whom he just celebrated 60 beautiful years of marriage in December, a milestone that reflected a lifetime of love, commitment, and partnership. He also leaves behind his sons, Mark (Georgina) Mayfield and Jonathan (Mandy) Mayfield; grandchildren, Kaylee (Colt) Collins, Analise Mayfield, Jagger Mayfield, and Jennings Mayfield; a cousin, Diane Screven Bradford; as well as several extended family members and friends.

A celebration service to honor Bruce Mayfield will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM, in the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. Interment will take place following with service at Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough, Georgia. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
