Bruce Meyer Obituary

Bruce Meyer
Fawn Township
In memory of Bruce Meyer, of Fawn Township a true mentor, innovator, and family man. Bruce passed unexpectedly in his home on the afternoon of Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, at the age of 74. Born in Amery, Wisconsin, Bruce grew up in Clayton on the family farm later a Century Farm. In his youth, Bruce participated in football and basketball with his brothers along with building silos and daily operations of the 350-acre dairy farm. Professionally, his groundbreaking work in hydraulic fracturing rooted in his PhD from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, early experience in the nuclear industry and with Gulf Oil, and later through Meyer & Associates (which he founded and advanced the field globally) placed him among the giants of the oil and gas industry. Bruce published influential papers and developed widely used models and closed-form approximations that helped better understand fracture growth in the subsurface. Yet he never chased the spotlight or industry adulation that others sought. His personal life was equally, if not more, influential and fruitful. His true priorities were his wife of 50 years, children, 46-acre farm, old tractors, cattle, and many close friends. More recently his seven grandchildren that he adored, championed, and cherished consumed his life noteworthy activities included gator, manure spreader, and quad rides and the grandfatherly wisdom that accompanied them. A simple, grounded life that embodied everything worth wanting. His commitment to family and friends far outshone even his dedication to mathematics and engineering. Bruce is survived by his wife, Ginny (Tomey) Meyer; son, Gregory (Jessica) Meyer; daughters, Jessica Meyer and Kristin (Josh) Susa; grandchildren, Eli, Victoria, Alexander, Mariah, Dominic, Gabriella, and Jaxon; mother, Goldie Meyer; brothers, Brad (Pam) and Paul (Linda); and sisters, Patsy and Susan. He was preceded in death by his father, Roman Meyer; brother, Mark; and brother-in-law, Leonard.
Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, at CICHOLSKI-ZIDEK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights, 724-224-8688. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026; please check the funeral home website for details.
