Marley Meyer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Oakwood Funeral Home and Crematory - Maplewood on Feb. 2, 2026.
Marley Patrick "Pat" Meyer, 74, of White Bear Lake, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, January 27, 2026, at St. John's Hospital, Maplewood, MN, due to complications following a recent surgery.

Born on August 7, 1951, in Waterloo, Iowa, Pat was the son of Edwin and Margaret Meyer and grew up in a family of six children.

Pat was beloved and well known in Waterloo and Cedar Falls as he attended the original Rainbow Drive School, the first of its kind, in 1966. Later, he attended the Black Hawk Developmental Center, River Hills School, and Key VII, an adult activity center for people with disabilities. Pat lived with his parents until 1977 when he moved into his first of several group homes over the years, operated through Exceptional Persons, Inc. There, he learned many life skills. Pat took part in the Iowa Special Olympics in 2015. He moved to White Bear Lake, MN in 2021 to be close to his family where he became part of an AXIS group home and was well-loved with the best of compassionate care.

Throughout Pat's life, he always continued to teach us all about love; love of family, love of faith, and love of God. He had a tender heart and engaging personality that brought about humor, improvisation, hugs, and sincere appreciation for whatever you did for him.

Pat is survived by; his sister, Terry Yacono (Fred) Eagan, MN, brothers, Tim (Kathy) Des Moines, IA, Marty (Jeanette) Little Canada, MN, and Michael, Des Moines, IA. Pat is also survived by six nephews, two nieces, twelve great-nephews, and five great-nieces.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, his eldest brother, Tom Meyer, niece Maria Elena Bowers, and nephew David Joel Meyer.

A mass of Christian burial for Pat will be held Friday, February 13 at 11 AM at Saint John the Evangelist of Little Canada, 380 Little Canada Rd E, Little Canada, MN 55117, with a visitation one hour prior. Private family burial will take place Saturday, February 14 at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo, IA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to AXIS Inc., 2345 Rice Street, Suite 112, Roseville, MN 55113 (651) 774-5940.

As the wind scatters seeds, time has scattered us. "Pat" was a frequent visitor and friend to those of us who lived in the 300 block of Fowler street in Waterloo, Iowa in the 1960's.

"Pat's" continual good nature and happiness made us better. He was our friend. The middle 1960's changed all our lives.

Each time I went back to Waterloo, Iowa, I drove down Franklin street past where "Pat" lived and wondered where he was. May he rest in peace and joy.
