Bruce Howard Oliver, 87, husband of 67 years to the love of his life, Nancy Louise Broome Oliver, of Walhalla, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. A native of Walhalla, Mr. Oliver was the son of the late William Harbin and Essie Heaton Oliver. He served as pastor at Rocky Fork and Faith Tabernacle for over twenty years and was very passionate about preaching; and witnessing using his favorite Bible verse, John 14:1-6. Mr. Oliver was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Police Division. After that Bruce owned and operated his own wood carpentry company for over thirty years, known as Lakeview Cabinetry. Mr. Oliver spent his retirement years with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grands; as his family was his pride and joy. As a hobby Bruce enjoyed fishing and was an avid golfer. In addition to his wife, Mr. Oliver is survived by his son: Christopher Bruce Oliver and his wife Tammy Oliver; daughter: Kathy Elizabeth Hamby; brothers: Frank Oliver and Davis Oliver; sisters: Rachel Kelly and Vivian Swafford; six grandchildren: Ashlee Perreault, Lisa Norton, Levi Oliver, Amber Eades, Aaron Hamby and Kaitlin Oliver; and fifteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Oliver was preceded in death by his brothers: Lester, Elmer, Newton and Jack Oliver; and sister: Blanche Murphy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 18, 2025, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Oconee Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Davenport Funeral Home. Flowers are accepted.
