Bruce Blaisdell Pfeffer
1939 - 2024
At the age of 85 years old, Bruce went to dance with abandon on the streets of paradise on August 24, 2024. He was born in Mississippi but raised in New York. His life was defined by sharing joy. A strong-willed and stubborn man at times, he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. Generous, loyal and loved to dance to dance, he was the best husband ever and an excellent father. He was such a caring and wonderful problem solver who excelled in swimming.
He lived his rambunctious young life in New York, attended Cheshire Academy in Connecticut. He was a veteran and served in the Navy. Bruce owned Rushmeyer’s Resort in Montauk, Long Island, New York, managed shopping malls and condominiums. His father was a scientist and a graduate of M. I. T. and his mother was active in many civic organization and was from the Kellogg/Morgan family.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte; his children, Blake, Alyssa and Scott and his grandchildren, Megan, Nick and Kayla, and step daughter, Carrie McDurmont.
Bruce succumbed to dementia but even in the end, he found a way to smile and laugh, sharing his love for his wife, Charlotte, following a wonderful 45 years together. He passed over peacefully in his sleep.
Rest now my love in our Heavenly Father’s arms. Just keep swimming….seeing death as the end of life is like seeing the horizon as the end of the ocean.
