Bruce LeRoy Ritter, 82 of Herrin passed away at 1:00 a.m., Friday, August 23, 2024 at Herrin Hospital.
Bruce was born September 6, 1941 in Herrin to Gilbert and Audrey Adele (Grant) Ritter.
Bruce was retired having been an Iron Worker for many years. He was a veteran with the United States Navy having served his country honorably. He was of the Christian faith. Bruce was the owner of Ritter Reproductions from 1985-2018 and Mr. Ritter Mocs where he made hand stitched leather moccasins and other leather goods.
Bruce was a 1959 graduate of Herrin High School. He attended SIU-C VTI program for one year. He was member of Iron Workers Local 392 of East St. Louis. He was also a member of American Legion Post#147 of Marion.
Bruce enjoyed setting up and selling his artifacts at the John A. Logan Hunting and Fishing Days. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and traveling.
Survivors include his daughter, Denel (Jeff) Morris of Herrin; son Brian (Gabrielle) Ritter of St. Louis; six grandchildren, Kylie, Taylor, Zoey, Brent, Elicia and Malachi; two great-granchildren, Rory and Theo; brother, James Kimbel (Brenda) Ritter of Ferges; several nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Scott) McCabe, Jarrod (Cindy) Ritter, Jeremy (Wendi) Ritter, and Joy (Matt) Snell and special friends, Bill and Rebecca Fox.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy with Pastor Rod Joplin officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Marion American Legion Post #147 and VFW Post #1301 and members of the United States Navy Military Honors Detail Team.
Family and friends are asked to gather at the graveside prior to the service.
