Bruce Wayne Sjerven, beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, at the age of 75.
Born on April 29, 1950, in Minneapolis, MN, to Ruth and Truman Sjerven, Bruce grew up surrounded by family and music. After graduating from Centennial High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Soon after, he married his high school sweetheart, Jan Rosvold, and together they welcomed two children, Scott and Nikki.
Following his service, Bruce returned to Minneapolis and later Coon Rapids, where he shared a home with his brother Terry. The two spent countless hours playing music together, a passion that remained central to Bruce’s life. In time, he settled in Ham Lake, where he lived for many years until his Alzheimer’s diagnosis in 2020. From then on, Bruce was lovingly cared for by his son Scott and daughter-in-law Missy before moving to a home in Eagan.
Bruce was a dedicated and loyal employee who took great pride in his work, earning numerous awards for perfect attendance. Beyond work, he had a gift for using his hands, always building, repairing, and tinkering with anything he could find. His love of music never faded, and he found joy in playing guitar, collecting Beatles and Batman memorabilia, and filling his home with favorite songs. He also loved watching old westerns and reminiscing about childhood adventures with his siblings, Dennis, Terry, and Julie.
Above all, Bruce’s greatest joy came from his family. He is survived by his children, Scott (Missy) and Nikki (Justin); his siblings, Dennis (Rose), Terry, and Julie; and his grandchildren, Camryn (Eli), Carter, Norah, Derek, and Owen, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Truman; his brother-in-law, Doug Houle; and his niece, Tanya Houle.
A memorial service celebrating Bruce’s life will be held on Monday, August 25th. Visitation at 10:00am, Service at 11:00am, Reception to follow.
Feel free to wear your favorite Beatles, Batman or Superman t-shirt to honor Bruce. We know he'll think that's "so cool".
