Bruce Tabar Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dobbling Funeral Home - Fort Thomas on Mar. 31, 2026.
Bruce Michael Tabar, 73, of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, after a long illness. He never allowed his illness to define him. Even in the winter before his passing, Bruce could be found cheering on his grandson at football games whenever his health allowed-undeterred by the cold. His grandchildren were truly his pride and joy.

Bruce will be remembered for his quick wit, playful spirit, and love of conversation. He had a gift for humor and connection, knowing many people and leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. His sense of humor carried him through life's most difficult moments, and he never lost his lighthearted nature.

A passionate and talented bassist, Bruce was a well-known musician throughout the Tri-State area, performing in numerous bands over the years. He was also an exceptional athlete in his youth, particularly in baseball. As a standout pitcher at Highlands High School, he held multiple records and had aspirations of playing professionally. A shoulder injury during his time at the University of Louisville brought those dreams to an end.

Bruce went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force. Following his service, he became a member of the Bellevue VFW. He later combined his love of music and technology as the owner and operator of Summit Design Systems, an audio/video company, before retiring.

Bruce was born on April 16, 1952, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Frank and Rosemary (née Harris) Tabar. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Tanya Strickley; and his brothers, Gregory Tabar and Jeffrey Tabar.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Wittich Tabar; his daughters, Tamara (Anthony) Arnzen and Mary-Denise (Steve) Roberts; his stepchildren, Paul Joseph Walters, Valerie Lynn (Dub) Statzer, William Charles (Angela) Walters, and Brandon Michael Walters; twelve grandchildren; his sister, Patia (Jeana) Tabar; and his brother, Kevin (Susan) Tabar.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Southgate Community Center on April 18, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
