Kathryn Barr Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home - East Louisville on Mar. 28, 2026.
Kathryn "Katie" Diane Barr, 41, passed away at home on March 26, 2026. A lifelong lover of animals and the outdoors, Katie lived with a spirited heart and an unwavering sense of determination that touched all who knew her.

Born on November 4, 1984, to Kenneth Barr and Valerie Dellario Barr, Katie was raised with a deep appreciation for family, nature, and hard work. She graduated from Assumption High School, Class of 2003, and went on to attend William Woods University and the University of Louisville.

Katie dedicated her career to her passion as an equine technician, combining her love for animals-especially horses-with her natural talent and care. She was an accomplished equestrian, showing Saddlebred horses and riding with the University of Louisville Polo Team. Her athleticism extended beyond the saddle, as she swam competitively and completed the Shelbyville Triathlon.

Katie found her greatest joy outdoors. Whether swimming, kayaking, riding ATVs, or spending time on the family farm, she embraced life fully and fearlessly. Her love for animals was unmatched, and her connection to them reflected her compassionate and generous spirit.

Known for her high energy, strong will, and enormous heart, Katie left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her strength and vibrant personality mirrored the very horses she loved so dearly.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Corinne and Irvin Barr, and Shirley Dellario.

Katie is survived by her loving parents, Kenneth Barr and Valerie Dellario Barr, and her brother, Eric Barr, along with many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

Katie's strong faith in God was a guiding force in her life and a source of comfort to those who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1000 N. Beckley Station Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40245. A Funeral Mass will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the church.
