It is with sad, heavy hearts that we share the passing of our father, Bruce Alan Thomas, who died unexpectedly in his home on December 17, 2022 at the age of 69.
Bruce is survived by his daughters, Vanessa (Chris) Krebs, Kerri Thomas and Ellie (Zac) Campbell. He also leaves behind siblings Jean (Greg) Leiser, Patty (Andy) Warfield, Todd (Lori) Thomas and Darren (Marcie) Thomas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Taylor, Chloe, Josie and Kavlyn. He is predeceased by his parents Byron and Lola Thomas.
Bruce was born on January 10, 1953 in Phelps, WI. He graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1971. Bruce worked at Oshkosh Truck for 32 years before retiring to his dream-project, "The Cabin" aka "Itchy Picky", in the Upper Peninsula in 2014.
Bruce was a dog-whisperer and had a special love for golden retrievers. Throughout his life, his goldens Opey, Jake and Monty were his best friends. Bruce was an avid record collector, and could tell you every detail about his favorite oldie's songs and artists. While living in Oshkosh, Bruce enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing. He served on the Buildings and Grounds committee at First Congregational Church and was a regular blood donor. In retirement, Bruce stayed busy with cabin projects, chopping wood, foraging wild berries and, without fail, the weekly crossword puzzle. He never grew tired of learning something new, always watching National Geographic or the History Channel.
To honor Bruce's memory, a celebration of life is scheduled from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7th at Fox River Brewing Company in Oshkosh. We invite anyone who knew him to attend at any time, enjoy food and beverages with us, and remember his wonderful life. He will be laid to rest with his parents in Watersmeet, Michigan at a later date.
