Bruce R. Veldman, age 70, of Darien, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Illinois. Born on November 9, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois, Bruce was a man of intelligence, thoughtfulness, and creativity, traits that he carried throughout his life and career.
A retired Certified Public Accountant, Bruce dedicated his professional life to excellence and integrity. His astute mind for numbers and his problem-solving skills made him a respected figure in his field. Colleagues knew him as a mentor who was always willing to share his knowledge and experience with others.
Bruce's love story with his wife, Marilyn, was one of deep affection and mutual respect. Their partnership of 46 years was a true testament to their commitment to each other. Together, they raised two sons, Brandon (Heather) and Matthew (Jillian), instilling in them the values of hard work and compassion. Bruce's role as a father was one of his greatest joys, and he took immense pride in the accomplishments and happiness of his children.
The Veldman family tree grew more vibrant with the laughter of grandchildren Abigail, Camden, Taven, Beckham and Jaxson, Bruce cherished his role as a grandfather, embracing every moment with his grandchildren and imparting the wisdom he had gathered over the years.
Bruce was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Richard Veldman, but his legacy is carried on through his family and the many lives he touched. He was a dear brother, a cherished uncle, and a friend to many. His absence will be deeply felt, but his memory will continue to be celebrated by all who knew him.
Services for Bruce were held privately, in accordance with his wishes. Arrangements were entrusted to DuPage Cremations, Ltd. and Funeral Chapel. Bruce's life was a beautiful mosaic of love, laughter, and lasting impressions. While he may have departed from this world, the impact of his thoughtful and creative spirit will continue to resonate with everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

He will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for the warmth and generosity he extended to all. Bruce's journey through life was marked by an unwavering dedication to his family, his work, and his community, and his story will be retold with admiration and love for generations to come.
