Bruce F. Askin peacefully passed in his sleep on Wednesday, August 20th surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1943 to Hazel and Don Askin, living with his 3 siblings Mark, Cheryl, and Roger.

Bruce accomplished and triumphed through so much during his life. He was a dedicated husband to Lucy in which they created a beautiful family with his 4 kids Tim, Debbie (Jack) McDonald, Jodi (Joe) Krause and Jesse (Christina) Askin. Devoting time for his ten grand-kids who called him Papi Shauna (Kevin) Simon, Jessica, Will, Faith, Ally, Emmy, JJ, Quinn, Cameron, and Tyler, being the greatest great grandpa to Charlie, Graham, and Mallory, and caring for over 80 foster kids. His relentless love, joy, smile, dad jokes and stories brightened their lives daily. While giving his love and devotion towards his family, he was also able to create a life of mastery, skill, and exhilaration.

One of his many skills was woodworking. He created treasured and irreplaceable symbols of his love through creations such as elephant rocking chair for his daughter, doll beds for his grandkids, and countless other cherished compositions that have been passed down to his great grandkids. He also worked as a pig farmer for his grandfather, an engineer at Tellabs, a security guard helping countless people, and an honorable member of the US Navy. He served during the Cuban Missile Crisis in the 60's with hopes of saving lives and protecting families during his time of service aboard the USS Boxer.

Bruce was also a long term member of the West Chicago Bible Church. One of his proudest parts in his life was being a part of his church. His love and passion for Jesus and his church are what drove his life, and made him calm and peaceful in his time of rest.

Any donations can be made out to The West Chicago Bible Church (https://www.westchicagobiblechurch.com) or the ECFA (https://www.evancfa.org/donate) to help him continue being a part of his greatest passions.

Memorial service will be held at The West Chicago Bible Church 209 S Oakwood St, on Saturday August 23rd at 11:00am.
