Bruce A. Ward

BRUCE A. WARD ONEIDA- Bruce A. Ward, 73, Main Street, went home to be with his wife on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, in Oneida Healthcare Hospital, where he had been a medical patient for the past eight days. Born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, on March 2, 1952, Bruce was raised and educated in this area. He married Carlene Janice Shetler in Stockbridge on April 7, 1993. Carlene died on September 20, 2019. For several years, prior to his retirement, Bruce was employed with Central Distributing, Inc. of Oneida. He was known for collecting bottles and cans, enjoyed lottery tickets and food, especially cheeseburgers, loved cats and always wore a cross as a sign of his faith. Surviving are his three sisters, Maryann Cummings, Dawn (Terry Wallace) Chesebro, both of Oneida and Tammy (Howard) Roache of North Carolina; his three brothers, William "Jim" (Jen) Cummings of Cicero, Joseph VanVorst, Jr. and James (Cindy) VanVorst, both of Oneida; several nieces and nephews, especially Sonya VanVorst, who was his caretaker. He was predeceased by three sisters, Sue Degregorie, Lynn Hemingway and Donna Pike and Joseph VanVorst, who raised him as a child. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Thursday, October 30. 2025, from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida. Interment, will full military honors, will be made in Lenox Rural Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 12 Noon - 1 PM, prior to the funeral service.
