Obituary of Bryan Husted Hunter
Lifelong Bath resident, Bryan Husted Hunter, died peacefully on January 8th, following a brief illness. Bryan would have turned 93 this month.
mkDuring the week of his illness and hospitalization at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Bryan was watched over by his brother and sister-in-law, David and Judy Hunter, his niece, Davette Carpenter, his nephew, Matt Hunter, his long term caretaker, Missy Wilson, and his daughter, Maxine.
Throughout his life, Bryan was lucky to have many close relationships. He was happily married for 56 years to Helen Ann Hunter, whom he cared for until she died at home in 2008. He is survived by two daughters: Gwendolyn Nelson of Rochester, NY and Maxine Hunter of Boston, MA., and three grandchildren: Damon Petty of Rochester, NY, Bryan Newbold of Seattle, WA, and Jane Newbold of Boston, MA.
Bryan worked many years at Ingersoll Rand. He was active in the union there, and because of the retirement benefits he earned, Bryan was able to afford the assistance he needed to age at home, as was his wish.
In his prime, Bryan was an avid hunter, gardener, fisherman and generous friend and family man. Thanks to daily visits and kindnesses from his brother, the excellent home care he received from his care team, nursing visits from the Bath Visiting Nurse Association, the love of his cats, and the steady stream of visits from other friends and family, Bryan lived a long and dignified life.
A private memorial service is planned for February.
All who loved him will miss him dearly.
