Richard J. Gardiner, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, at the age of 78. Richard, often known to his friends and family as simply Richard, was born on May 30, 1947, and throughout his life, he exemplified the virtues of kindness, dedication, and love.

Richard was the father of James (Gala) Gardiner of Defrost, WI, Jeanette (George) Anderson of Menominee, MI, Jennifer Gardiner of Cleveland, OH, Justin (Poalo Flores) Gardiner of Sun Prairie, WI, Joella (Jimmy) Brown of Green River, UT, and Jon Gardiner of Madison, WI.14 grandkids and 2 great-grandkids.

In addition to his children and grandchildren, Richard is survived by his siblings, Arthur L. Gardiner of Dansville, NY, Bruce W. Gardiner, Cynthia A. Gardiner, and Michele L. (Duane) Hall, all of Bath, NY. His life was enriched by the presence of numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart. Richard was predeceased by his father, Charles R. Gardiner, his mother, Audrie N. Silliman, and his siblings, Charles W., Paul E., Keith L. Gardiner, and Bonnie M. Perry.

Richard was honorably discharged as an Air Force Veteran. Professionally, Richard was a respected registered nurse, holding certificates in New York, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Utah. His colleagues and patients admired him for his compassion and expertise. Richard's Christian faith was an integral part of his life. He dedicated hours volunteering at the Methodist Church in Oakhurst, CA, where he was known for his unwavering support and gentle spirit.

Among Richard's many interests, genealogy held a special place. He spent numerous hours tracing his family's roots, connecting with relatives, and preserving the family history for future generations. This interest was a testament to his love for family and his desire to understand the bonds that connected them across time.
Those who knew Richard described him as an interesting man with a wealth of knowledge and experiences. His loving nature was evident in every interaction, and his presence brought comfort and joy to those around him.

Richard J. Gardiner led a life full of purpose and love. His impact on his family, friends, and community will be felt for many years to come. As we say goodbye to Richard, we celebrate the remarkable life he led and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue through the love he shared and the memories he created with all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Burial with military honors will be held at the Bath National Cemetery.
