Robert M. ‘Buddy’ Elliott, 75, of Abbeville, died Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Abbeville to the late R. B. and Rose Sorrow Elliott.
A1967 graduate of Abbeville High School, Buddy retired from the former Milliken & Co – Sharon Plant with 40 years of dedicated service in the maintenance department. Outside of work, he dedicated much of his time and energy to serving his community. A founding member of the Edgewood Fire Department, he also volunteered with the Abbeville County Rescue Squad. It was the smaller moments that defined Buddy. Whether it was lending a helping hand to a neighbor or spending time with his family and close friends, he always had time for those who needed him. Buddy was a member of Lowndesville Pentecostal Holiness Church.
In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney Thomas ‘Big Tommy’ Elliott, Sr.
Buddy is survived by his son, Ronnie Elliott (Lisa) of Calhoun Falls; daughter, Kim Elliott Smith (Stan) of Greenwood; three brothers, Dale Elliott (Dianna), Randy Elliott, all of Abbeville and Rick Elliott (Linda) of Greenwood; sister-in-law, Wanda Elliott of Abbeville; six grandchildren, D.K. Saylors (Erin), Justin Saylors (Brooke), Seth Saylors (Addison), Josh Elliott (Mattie), Casey Saylors (Kenadie) and Jacob Elliott (Kinley); four great-grandchildren, Laney Brooke, Kace, Rhett and Jude; and many extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends 5:00PM – 7:00PM, Saturday, June 10, 2023, in Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Sunday, June 11, 2023 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Scotty Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery with Fireman honors.
