Jennifer Lewis ‘Jenni’ Hedden, 55, of Abbeville, beloved wife of Kevin Hedden, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026 surrounded by her family at home. She was born in Greenwood, SC to Fred L. and Patricia Seigler Lewis.
A proud alumna of Abbeville High School, Jenni graduated in 1989 and later earned her degree from Clemson University in 1993. She dedicated her professional life to education, beginning her teaching career at Westwood Elementary School in 1996 and continuing to inspire students until her retirement in 2025. As a beloved teacher, Jenni made a lasting impact on countless lives, further enriching her school community through her involvement with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and the Beta Club.
In addition to her commitment to education, Jenni was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and friend. She had a deep love for the beach, particularly Edisto Beach, enjoyed crafting, and cherished caring for her family and beloved dogs. Jenni was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Abbeville.
She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Charlene M. Hedden.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin, with whom she shared 32 years of marriage; their three children, Stephen Hedden (Lindsay), Caleb Hedden (Anna), and Hannah Beth Hedden (Michael Ashley); her parents, Fred and Patricia Lewis; her brother, Jeff Lewis (Cindy Strange); her father-in-law, Jerry Hedden (Nancy); her special dog, Bentley; and numerous extended family members and friends.
Friends and family are invited to join for visitation from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in the Christian Life Center of First Baptist Church of Abbeville. The funeral service will begin at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, officiated by Rev. Chris Sullivan. Burial to follow in Long Cane Cemetery.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Chuck Nash, Chad Stone, Griffin Lewis, Barry Ferguson, Thomas Ferguson and Jay Hodge.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in memory of Jenni be directed to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646, or to the Westwood Elementary FCA, 124 Hwy 28 Bypass, Abbeville, SC 29620.
