John Sydney Stoddard, 80, of the Savannah Lakes Community, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the Hospice House in Greenwood. He was the beloved husband of Ray Corley Stoddard and is remembered for his kindness and dedication to family.

Born in White Plains, New York, John was the son of the late John S. and Edith Nelson Stoddard. He was a proud graduate of Alexander Hamilton High School in Elmsford, NY, class of 1963. Following his high school education, he earned his bachelor's degree in 1967 from the University of Connecticut and later pursued a master's degree in administration and supervision from Fairfield University.

John dedicated 29 years of his professional life to education, serving as the Athletic Director at Brewster High School in New York. His passion for sports extended beyond his professional commitments; he found joy in scuba diving, boating, and golf, and was an avid supporter of the UCONN Women’s Basketball Team.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ray; two sons, Chris Stoddard (Kathi) of Fort Myers, FL, and Craig Stoddard (Amanda) of East Stroudsburg, PA; his brother, David Stoddard of Elmsford, NY; and five grandchildren, Brooke, David, Regan, Jack, and Samantha.

John Stoddard's legacy is one of love, dedication, and a lifelong commitment to education and family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be 11:00AM, Friday, March 27, 2026, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Rev. Father Jacob Joseph officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Good Shepherd Columbarium. The family will receive friends following the inurnment in the Parish Life Center.
