James Ovid Crenshaw, 79, Abbeville, S.C, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at NHC-Greenwood. He was born in Seneca, S.C., to the late Thomas Newton Crenshaw and Cornelia Gibson Crenshaw.
Ovid was a proud graduate of Abbeville High School, class of 1965, and furthered his education at Piedmont Technical College. He dedicated his professional life to Flexible Technologies until his retirement. Beyond his career, he had a passion for restoring vintage automobiles and enjoyed spending his leisure time hunting, fishing, and engaging in various outdoor activities, embodying the spirit of a jack of all trades.
Ovid was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jean Meeks Kyzer, as well as his great-nephew, Thomas Iverson Meeks.
He is survived by his sister, Susan McManus (Kent) of Greenwood, S.C.; along with six nephews and nieces: Chris Meeks (Julie), Craig Meeks (Alison), Jason Meeks (Angel), Katie Beth Roux, Robert Thomas McManus (Keatin), and Claudia Grace Pinckney (Sam). Ovid also leaves behind ten great-nephews and nieces: Haston, Drew, Mikayla, Belle, Ella, Lilly Kathryn, Sullivan, Wrenley, Rosie, and Roycie; as well as a loving extended family and many friends.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Long Cane Cemetery, with family visitation to follow.
Special thanks to Rowland and Patti Shaw and Barry and Janet Ferguson for all their love and support during this last journey of Ovid’s life.
