Marcus Eugene “Buddy” McLean passed away Tuesday, August 20th. In his high school yearbook, the inscription by his senior picture said, “Quiet and considerate, everybody’s buddy”, which described him really well. Buddy grew up in Hendersonville, graduating from Hendersonville High in 1967. He was especially proud of his days as a basketball player and star catcher on the baseball team. After graduation, he served in the Navy and was also proud of being a veteran.
Buddy had a long and productive career with the Tennessee Department of Transportation, retiring in a leadership position. Also, for much of his life he was a diehard Tennessee Vols fan. Buddy was a wonderfully supportive father to his daughter Shonah McLean, following her to her many track meets in high school and devoted husband to his wife Doris McLean, both of whom survive him. He was preceded in death by his mother Imogene, father Mark, and brother Steve McLean.
