Buford "Jim" James Ringling, 80, of Wendell, Idaho, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, in Gooding, Idaho. He was born on January 27, 1946, in Mitchell, South Dakota, to Theodore and Leona Ringling.
Jim spent his formative years in Platte, South Dakota, attending elementary school until the age of 11. He then moved to Ontario, California, where he graduated from Ontario Christian High School in 1964. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Diane Pieterdina Van Dyk.
On February 3, 1966, Jim proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force. While serving at Williams Air Force Base in Arizona, he married Diane on March 8, 1968. Jim served honorably for four years and held his military service close to his heart.
After his time in the Air Force, Jim transitioned to a career as a milk tester. In 1978, he and Diane relocated to Buhl, Idaho, where they established a dairy farm. In 1980, they moved the dairy to Wendell, Idaho, where they enjoyed many years of hard work and community involvement. After selling the dairy in 1995, Jim discovered a new passion for driving truck and hauling hay, a job he cherished until his retirement. He loved sharing this experience with his grandchildren, often taking them to work alongside him.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Diane Ringling; his children, Karin Lukesh, Bud (Wendy) Ringling, Theodore (Ashlee) Ringling, and William (Sarah) Ringling; and his beloved grandchildren, Andrew, Dineka, Jonika, Kassidy, Kyler, Peyton (Danielle), Emma (Jayden), Kelan, and Aidan. He also leaves behind one great-granddaughter, Sawyer, and his siblings, Mel, Ding, Sherwood, and John. He is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Leona, and his brother, Darnell.
Jim will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his country, and his commitment to hard work. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at New Life Community Church, 800 West Main Street, Wendell, Idaho. Burial will conclude at Snake River Canyon National Cemetery, 1585 East Elm Street, Buhl, Idaho.
