Burl Wilson Shulaw, age 80, of St. Marys, Ohio and formerly of DeGraff, Ohio passed away at 12:53 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2022, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
He was born November 30, 1941, in Ada, Ohio, a son of the late Woodrow Wilson and Gladys (Godard) Shulaw. In addition to his parents, Burl was preceded in death by his son, Bryan Wilson.
Burl married the former Emma Jean Hale December 18, 1965, in Lima, Ohio and she survives, along with their four daughters, Robin (Dane) Felver, Debra Reisinger, Melisa Huddleston, and Sarah (Mike) McFarlin; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Loretta (Bruce) Hodges; a brother, Clarence (Mary) Shulaw; and many nieces and nephews.
A retired United States Army Vietnam Veteran, Burl had worked for the Nissan Motor Corporation and was a deputy with the Logan County Sheriff's department. He wore seven uniforms in his lifetime: Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Navy Reserve while in high school, U.S. Army for 20 years, DeGraff Police Department, Logan County Sheriff, and Coast Guard Auxiliary. Burl was Past Commander for the Indian Lake Coast Guard Auxiliary, and member of Alvin W. Metzger VFW Post #8445, Boggs Lodge #292 F&AM in DeGraff, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2022, at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in DeGraff with a masonic service beginning at 11:45 a.m.
A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2022 in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ada, Ohio.
