Burnus Geneva Longwell Groves was born on August 8, 1938, in Fredericksburg, Indiana to Eden J. and Ella M. (Bush) Sutton. She went home to be with the Lord on October 30, 2025, at the age of 87 years, 2 months and 22 days. Burnus grew up around Salem, Indiana and graduated from Salem High School. After graduation, she married Thomas Longwell in 1957. Four children were born to this union, Randall, Susie, Brenda and Jeffrey. She also had three stepchildren she helped raise and love, Thomas, Michaeline and Larry.

Thomas and Burnus moved to Graff, Missouri in 1958 and operated a dairy farm there. Due to his health, they sold the farm in 1972 and moved to Mountain Grove, Missouri. Burnus was also employed by H.D. Lee for many years as a sewing machine operator. Thomas passed away in 1973. In 1979 Burnus married Kenneth Royal. He passed away in 1993. In 1997 she married Glenn Groves. He passed away in 2016.

Burnus was the youngest of eleven children. She loved going to school and always stressed the importance of education for her children. She accepted Jesus Christ as her savior in her teens and continued to love and serve him the rest of her life. She enjoyed sewing, square dancing, cooking and quilting.

She was preceded in death by her three husbands, her parents and all siblings. She is survived by her children, Thomas (Terri) Longwell of Yellville, Arkansas, Michaeline Taylor of Bonnie Lake, Washington, Larry (Debbie) Longwell of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Randall (Becky) Longwell of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Susie (Steve) Shaw of Marshfield, Missouri, Brenda (Bob) Phillippe of Summersville, Missouri and Jeffrey (Linda) Longwell of Springfield, Missouri, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
