Clarssia Ann (Leighty) Washburn was born November 30, 1936, in Huggins, Missouri, the only child of George and Zonia (Butts) (Lemons) Leighty, and departed this life November 1, 2025, at Houston House Nursing Home in Houston, Missouri, at 88 years, 11 months, and 2 days of age.

Clarssia was united in marriage to William Washburn on March 3, 1956. She was saved and baptized at an early age and attended Number One Church in Huggins, Missouri. The last 50 years, she has attended Embree Community Church where she faithfully played the piano for many years. She learned to read shape notes early in life and then taught herself to play both the piano and guitar by ear.

Clarssia drove a school bus for Plato Schools for 39 years, and also served as the Montgomery Township Collector for 20 years. She truly enjoyed getting to know and serving the people of her community in both of these endeavors. Clarssia also enjoyed hunting with William, and they liked traveling together all over the country, including Alaska and Canada. She loved hosting friends in her home for fun evenings of music and games.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one infant son, and 18 half-siblings.

Clarssia is survived by one daughter, Gail Barton and husband, Ron, three grandchildren, Surina, Shayne, and Shalyn, three great-grandchildren, and many extended family and friends who will miss her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dutch Chapel Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
