Burtis Stephens age 73 of Strunk, Kentucky passed from this life on Monday, March 17, 2025 at his home.
He was born on August 10, 1951 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Thomas Melvin Stephens and Dorothy Opal (Perry) Stephens.
In addition to his parents, Burtis is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie (Spradlin) Stephens; a grandson, Justin Charles Musgrove; a son-in-law, Cye Riley Murphy; brothers, Edward, Kenneth, and Orvil Lee Stephens; and infant sisters, Debra Ruth and Phyllis Ann.
Surviving family include his daughter, Sandra Stephens Murphy; grandchildren, Brandon Michael Musgrove, Mary Ann Murphy, and Julian Spradlin whom he loved as his own grandchild; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Johnson, Debra Sizemore, Bethany Sizemore, Raylen Ridner, Michael Musgrove, Braden Musgrove, Benjamin Musgrove, Patiance Spradlin, and Shaylee Maynard.
Also surviving are Burtis's brothers and sisters, Roscoe Stephens (and Drenda), Tim Stephens (and Carolyn), Phillip Stephens (and Terri), Tommy Stephens (and Gerti), Wanda Lucas (and Paul, and Judy Baird Campbell (and Bill); and a special nephew, Derrick Stephens.
Burtis was a faithful member of the Dixie Freedom Baptist Church and would witness of the Lord's work to everyone he came in contact with. He had worked in the log woods and was a skilled carpenter. Burtis loved woodworking, building rockers and picture frames. He also enjoyed going fishing. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Neal and Bro. Tim Stephens officiating. Burial to follow in the Jess Privett Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday after 10:30 am until service time.
