Burton Elie Broussard was born on January 5, 1948 in Port Arthur, Texas, the son of the late Louis and Gloria Owings Broussard.

Burton was united in marriage to Sonya Belton, who survives.

Mr. Broussard honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran. He later retired from Exxon Chemicals in Baytown, Texas where he worked as a process operator. Burton loved surf fishing at Crystal Beach, Texas. He also loved to travel and have fish frys with his friends and family and reminisce about good times. He enjoyed attending church and was a member of First Baptist Church in Clifton, Tennessee. Most of all, Burton loved his family.

Burton Elie Broussard departed this life on February 4, 2026 in Bath Springs, Tennessee, at the age of 78 years and 30 days.

He is survived by his wife, Sonya Broussard of Bath Springs, Tennessee; sons, David Broussard (Christie) of Seabrook, Texas and James Orton (Tonya) of Baytown, Texas; stepson, Shane Phebus (Christine) of Baytown, Texas; sister, Peggy Johnson (Ed) of Palm Coast, Florida; brother, David Greg Broussard (Jean) of Prairieville, Louisiana; grandchildren, Rachael Broussard, Rebecka Broussard, Samantha Phebus, Corbin Orton, Matthew Phebus, Eli Orton, Kierstan Kilmer, and Chelsea Robinson; and great grandchildren, Oaklee Rice, Caleb Fuentes, Peyton Fuentes, and Presleigh Kilmer due in March of 2026.

In addition to his parents, Burton was preceded in death by his brothers, Louis Broussard, Jr., Gary Broussard, and Randy Broussard.
