Byron Chopas D.M.D., 89, of Atkinson, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, at his residence.
He was born in Haverhill on February 23, 1936, son of the Late Demetrius and Sophia (Giamisis) Chopas.
Byron was educated in the Haverhill School System and graduated from Haverhill High School with the Class of 1953. Upon graduation he attended UConn where he received his bachelor's degree. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. Byron later attended Tufts where he received his Dentistry degree.
He started as an intern for Rochester/Eastern Kodak Dental Center and later worked for AVCO. Byron opened his Haverhill practice in 1970 and retired in 2014. He served as President and was the original founder of AHEPA 39, was a past President and Treasurer of Holy Apostles Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, as well as a member of the Pentucket Kiwanis.
Byron enjoyed spending his time traveling especially to Australia, New Zealand and the winter months in Siesta Key, FL, his home away from home.
Byron is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sandra A. (Pantelas) Chopas, his nephews and niece James Chopas and his wife Mary Beth of Concord, MA, John Chopas of North Andover, Leia Ballard of Phoenix, and Michael Chopas of New Mexico, sister-in-law Kay Chopas of North Andover, and three grand nieces and nephews Maria Chopas, Sophia Chopas and Evan Chopas.
He is predeceased by his brothers George and John Chopas.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Monday, January 5 at 10-11 in the Holy Apostles Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 156 Winter St., Haverhill. His Funeral Service will follow in the church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua, NH.
