Byron Mark Edge April 16th, 1957- March 17th, 2025
With a steady hand and a patient heart, Byron, 67, of Rochester, MN cast his line one last time and drifted peacefully into eternal waters. Byron was a kind soul whose quiet charm and charisma lives on through his loving legacy.
While an avid fisherman at heart, Byron was many other things-a father, husband, papa, uncle, brother, dear friend, and many other titles for those who knew him. He found and shared happiness in cheering on the Packers, fishing on the streams, playing cards with his card club, and going on adventures with his favorite granddaughter.
Byron was born in Lancaster, Wisconsin to parents Ruby and Floyd Edge. He attended Southwest Wisconsin Technical College and graduated with an associate degree. He started work in Chicago, before finding a 40+ year career at the Mayo Clinic.
He married the love of his life, Jayne, on 5/20/1988. Though he had many important dates in his life, ranging from his wedding day to the birth dates of his loved ones, one special day each year was the fly-fishing expo that he counted down the days to.
Whether wading in cold streams or sharing laughter around a campfire, he taught us that the best catches in life aren't the ones on the line, but the ones we hold in our hearts. He is survived by his wife Jayne Edge, children Jennifer (Adam) Beal, Spencer Edge, and granddaughter Memphis Beal; siblings Sharon (Phil) Jaeger, Darwin Edge (Ellen Collett), Kenneth (Kathie) Edge, Betty Edge (sister-in-law), Elmer Edge, Joyce (Russ) McEachron, Lorraine Edge, along with many other in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Ruby and Floyd, and brothers Alvin, Lloyd, and Keith.
Though his favorite fishing hole now lies beyond our sight, we take comfort in knowing he's found the perfect stream-one where the water is always clear, the fish always rise, and the sun never sets.
The Celebration of Life is set for Saturday, July 12th at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home. Visitation is at 10am, the service is at 11am, and a John Hardy's BBQ luncheon to follow.
