Stratham, NH – Byron C. M. Placy, 32, of Portsmouth Ave. and formerly of Concord Street in Dover died unexpectedly December 7, 2023 at his residence.
On September 25, 1991 in Colebrook the talented musician Ca$hmarz was born. He was the son of Paula (Goodreau) White and Chris Placy.
Byron was raised in Colebrook, his favorite place in the world. Tales of growing up in the 90's and spending time with his sister and cousins continued to be stories he shared with those who would listen. Playing outside, climbing trees, riding bikes, swimming, jeeping, sledding, snowmobiling, jetskiing, skiiing, camping, and so much more, made for a fun childhood in the countryside.
Countless hours were spent with his "siski" Sara throughout their childhood right up to his passing playing Pokémon and other video games, watching SpongeBob and Gordon Ramsey, camping and swimming, improvising song lyrics on car rides, making so many inside jokes and laughing to tears. The adventures and memories are endless.
He attended and graduated from Colebrook Academy in 2009. After taking a year off to continue working at the Balsams as a bellman, he resumed his education at Plymouth State University with dreams of landing in the music industry. Upon completing his freshman year at PSU, he joined several family members already located in Newmarket, and transferred his credits to the University of New Hampshire. He studied business while working at The Wentworth by the Sea, doing what he loved; which was making connections and networking while valeting, but driving fancy cars and earning cash tips were nice perks. He ultimately graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2014.
On November 15, 2022 he married Heather, his soulmate and the love of his life. They loved to frequent their favorite restaurant, The Riverworks, the place where they had their first date, and enjoyed quiet evenings playing Skip Bo and Yahtzee. He took pride in cooking delicious meals for Heather and family.
His other great love in life was his guitar. Playing and writing music was his lifelong passion. Never afraid to be himself, and prove to the world he could do anything he set his mind to, Byron taught himself how to play musical instruments.
He loved traveling with his band, playing at various venues all along the coast. He wrote and sold numerous songs in addition to the songs of his own that he recorded.
Spending time with his loved ones was the joy of his life. Visiting Colebrook to go jeeping or playing cornhole at his mom's, going golfing or watching hockey games with his dad and sister, teaching Kit and Crispin how to be their authentic selves, board games and adventures with Heather, family card games filled with laughter, cheering on New England sports teams and Kentucky basketball, snuggling the furry critters, and so much more.
Byron was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Ray & Mary Lou (Salls) Placy and his maternal grandfather, Andres Goodreau Jr, and his cousin Caleb Sweatt.
Survivors include his wife, Heather (Williams) Placy of Stratham; his mother, Paula (Goodreau) White and her husband Larry of Colebrook; his father, Chris Placy and his wife Jessica of Newmarket; his maternal grandmother, Pauline (LeBlanc) Goodreau of Colebrook; his sisters, Sara Placy of Durham and Kit Placy of Newmarket; his brother, Crispin Placy of Newmarket; his aunts Lisa Placy, Donna Bouthillier, Cathy Edwards, Debbie Broome, Chrissy Goodreau, Heidi Placy; uncles Mark Placy and Brett Brooks; and his cousins Mackenzie Brooks, Chelsea Nugent, Kyle Bouthillier, Kory Bouthillier, Jacob Goodreau, Ashley Edwards, Cassandra Dumont, Robert Smith, Roger Cass, Kendrick Cass, Heather Cass, and Mercedes Kuzina.
A visitation will be held on Sunday December 17th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home & Crematory, 77 Exeter Road (Route 108), Newmarket. Graveside services will take place at a later date in Village Cemetery, Colebrook.

My bro fo show lol he was my best brofriend. He was with Rick and I when we went to the mall and Rick got the ring and proposed to me. He was my 90s twin. We met in 2017 when I met my husband and we went on to create a band called broken theory (band name created by mister Byron himself) and shared so many memories and unforgettable moments. He was my brother from another and our favorite song to jam to was oddly "slow hands by Niall Horan " we just both loved the song and could always sit on the couch and vibe and have fun being silly about it. He will forever be in my thoughts And always missed . Till we all see him again I do believe he lives within Aretha his girl. ""His first love"" (his guitar) I hope you see this Heather. And I'm always here if you ever reach out. I can't imagine how hard this must be for you. I wish I had gotten to know you before. Stay strong beautiful.
