C. Richard Bupp, 99, entered into rest Friday, March 14, 2025, at Seaton Springwood, York, PA. He was the loving husband of the late Lucille (Gotwalt) Bupp, with whom he was married to for 73 years. Richard was born in Springfield Township, on March 31,1925, to the late Charles E. and Blanche E. (Falkenstein) Bupp.
Richard was a 1942 graduate of William Penn Senior High School. He was drafted into the United States Navy during World War II and served aboard LST-1057. After the war, he returned to Muhlenberg College and graduated in 1948 with a degree in Mathematics.
Richard was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church in Jacobus, where he had taught Sunday School, served on the Church Council, and served as Treasurer.
Richard worked as a Credit Manager for Goodling Inc. (Mobil) and Shipley Energy. He served on the Jacobus Zoning Board, Dallastown Area School Board, and the Board of Directors of the York Credit Bureau.
A lifelong sports fan, Richard cheered for the Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Browns, and Baltimore Ravens. He was a proud and familiar presence at Dallastown High School sporting events, especially football, basketball, and wrestling.
Richard was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. Upon retirement from Shipley Energy, he and Lucille spent the winters in Myrtle Beach, SC.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille (Gotwalt) Bupp, daughter, Jane E. Bupp, and son-in-law, Ronald R. Gaynor. Richard is survived by his daughters, Lisa (Mike) Valenti of Harrisburg; Amy Gaynor of Jacobus; and Anne (Todd) Strayer of Dallastown; cherished grandchildren, Anthony (Bekah) Valenti; Gina (Jason) Wuchter; Elizabeth Gaynor; Robert (Kristin) Gaynor; Matthew Gaynor; and Avery Strayer, and five great-grandsons.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date. The John W. Keffer Funeral and Crematory, East York is assisting with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem Lutheran Church, Jacobus.
