C. Michael "Mike" O'Neil, 84, passed away on March 19th, 2025, surrounded by his family and close friends at Avow Hospice Center in Naples, Florida. Mike was known as a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all. He became a dedicated member of every community he lived in and created impactful connections wherever he went.
Michael O'Neil was born on September 12th, 1940, in Keene, New Hampshire to Arthur G. O'Neil and Margaret (O'Leary) O'Neil. He married his high school sweetheart, Carol, in 1963 and the two remained together for nearly sixty years until Carol's passing in 2022. Mike became a proud father to his only child, Kelly in 1964 and a loving grandfather to his only grandchild, Tori, in 2002.
Together, Mike and Carol purchased their Hampton, New Hampshire home in 1971 and in 1997, the two began enjoying winters in Naples, Florida. Splitting his time between the two locations, Mike enjoyed spending quality time with his family, going out with his cherished friends, spoiling his daughter and granddaughter, golfing, serving his community, and keeping up to date with current events. Mike was fondly known as "Father Christmas" by his family for his joy in spreading holiday cheer every year.
Over the course of his life, Mike's career has taken him on many different paths of public service, all dedicated to leading his community forward. He worked in Athletics and Administration at the University of New Hampshire for nearly twenty years. After his retirement from UNH he became the VP of Administration for the New Jersey Devils hockey team. Mike and Carol retired to Hampton Beach, thus beginning Mike's involvement in local politics as a commissioner for the Hampton Beach Precinct. A committed leader, Mike also served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives for 12 years.
Michael maintained a long-standing role in the growth and development of his community, receiving honors for his decades of devotion to his home state from the Hampton Beach Commissioners in 2007. Mike's joyous spirit and dedication to all those around him will never be forgotten. We are forever grateful for all his accomplishments in life, both in the care for his work and the love he showed for his friends and family.
He is predeceased by his wife Carol, his parents, and his siblings Paul O'Neil, Arthur O'Neil, and Barbara Barry. He is survived by his daughter Kelly, her husband Dan, his sister Kathy Trubiano, and his granddaughter Tori.
The family is having a private viewing followed by a cremation. To honor Michael O'Neil, a celebration of life will be held at a future date at Naples Heritage Golf and Country Club in Naples, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Avow Hospice Care in memory of Michael O'Neil, links available with his obituary at legacyoptions.com.

Hello...I just saw this and am so very sad to hear. He was the sweetest kindest man and was always a joy to work with. Will be greatly missed. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

I´d like to extend my sympathy to my cousin Kelly and her husband Dan and daughter Tori, along with my Aunt Kathy for the loss of their wonderful father and brother.
I remember his infectious laughter whenever we had the chance to visit his house on holidays or to watch a Sunday football game tagging along with my folks.
Uncle Mike made it a point to get in touch with me when I got up to UNH, where he was their athletic director at the time. He got me a job working in the field house, which was perfect, because I got to work out with the football team whenever I wanted! He also checked in with me now and then to make sure I was happy where I was living.
My wife Jan also remembers Uncle Mike fondly; we both hope he is at peace.
